Nutty Baked French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf day old sliced white bread, cut in cubes

  • 10 eggs

  • 3 cups milk

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla

  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Nut Topping

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened

  • 1-1/3 cup brown sugar

  • 1-1/3 cup pecans, coarsely chopped

  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup 

Directions

  • Generously grease 13 x 9 x 2” pan

  • Fill pan with cubed bread to the top edge of the pan and set aside

  • Mix together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon

  • Pour over bread

  • Cover and refrigerate overnight

  • Combine topping ingredients and gently spoon over the top when ready to bake french toast

  • Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

  • Be sure it doesn’t jiggle in the middle, it will be golden and puffy.
