Kelli’s Sour Cream Cut-Outs

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened (2 sticks)

  • 1-1/2 cups white sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

  • 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

    Cookies

  •  1/3 cup butter, softened

  • 2 cups powdered sugar (I measure then sift)

  • 2-3 Tablespoons heavy whipping cream

  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla

  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Directions

  • In a mixing bowl combine butter and sugar; beat until creamy

  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each

  • Add sour cream and vanilla; mix well

  • Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda

  • Gradually add flour mixture to the creamed mixture, beating on low

  • Chill dough at least 2 hours or overnight

  • Roll portions of dough onto heavily floured surface to about 1/4” thickness

  • Cut with cookie cutters

  • Place on lightly greased cookie sheet

  • Bake at 350 degrees in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes

  • Make sure the cookies are “set,” “puffed up” and slightly firm to touch when you remove them from the oven. Only the edges should be slightly golden.

  • Cool and frost
