Kelli’s Sour Cream Cut-Outs
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened (2 sticks)
1-1/2 cups white sugar
3 eggs
1 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
Cookies
1/3 cup butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar (I measure then sift)
2-3 Tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Directions
In a mixing bowl combine butter and sugar; beat until creamy
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each
Add sour cream and vanilla; mix well
Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda
Gradually add flour mixture to the creamed mixture, beating on low
Chill dough at least 2 hours or overnight
Roll portions of dough onto heavily floured surface to about 1/4” thickness
Cut with cookie cutters
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet
Bake at 350 degrees in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes
Make sure the cookies are “set,” “puffed up” and slightly firm to touch when you remove them from the oven. Only the edges should be slightly golden.
Cool and frost
